Skills Standards

•  Industry skill standards are identified by industry and communicate the level of proficiency needed to be successful in a profession.

•  Industry skill certification is available through certifying organizations after program completion.

•  National and State academic standards form the foundation for general education courses in high school and college.

•  The Minnesota Department of Education has career and technical education (CTE) standards and curriculum frameworks that assist schools in assuring rigor and alignment of CTE curriculum. The standards and frameworks align with SCANS skills and industry standards. They can be found at the Minnesota Department of Education.

•  SCANS skills or employability skills are required for success in the workplace.
