BACKGROUND
Recently Dr. JoAnn Simser, State Director for Career and Technical Education (CTE), finalized a contract with the Center for Occupation Research and Development (CORD) to revise and update the 2004 MN Program Advisory Committee Handbook. The goal of the updated handbook is to assist Community and Technical Colleges in implementing local advisory committee procedures. The revised handbook will incorporate all relevant information written in the 2006 Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act and the Minnesota Five-year State CTE Plan. In addition the handbook will contain information for K-12 professionals to build common (secondary/postsecondary) CTE program advisory committee structures along the lines of programs of study/career pathways. Consultants, working in collaboration with a statewide working group of secondary/postsecondary CTE professionals, assigned to this project are Debra Mills, CORD Vice President, Partnerships and Lloyd A. Petri, CORD Project Consultant.
Workshop Attendees
We are requesting that Perkins Consortia attend their own regional workshop in teams of no more than ten (10) individuals. Suggested titles of individuals making up each team could include, but may not be limited to the following: CTE high school teachers, principals, counselors, college faculty, college deans, Perkins coordinators, etc.
Workshop Cost/Support
There will be no registration fee charged to attend your regional workshop. The Office of the Chancellor, Perkins Unit, will cover all food and meeting costs. The MN Department of Education, Center for Post Secondary Success, will cover mileage and sub pay for secondary professionals to attend their respective regional meetings.
